Huntington Beach police are investigating an incident involving three kids who got sick on Wednesday after they ate cookies laced with marijuana. The cookies were a gift from a neighbor to the parents of one of the boys.
The parents reportedly did not know that the cookies had pot in them. The boy, age 11, and his two friends, ages 9 and 10, found the cookies and ate some of them before going to the park.
When they returned home they reported feeling sick. They were treated at Huntington Beach hospital for dizziness, vomiting, and headaches.
Police say that the neighbor, 40-year-old Jason Davis, contacted them as soon as he found out the children had eaten the cookies. He admitted that he knew that the cookies had marijuana in them. He does not have a medical marijuana card. No arrests have been made so far.
On Thursday, a 15-year-old boy at Marina High School received medical treatment after also eating a pot-laced cookie. Police are not sure at this time whether the incidents are related.
Orange County, California Personal Injury
If your son or daughter was injured in an accident that you believe was caused by another party's recklessness or carelessness, you may have grounds for an Orange County, California injuries to minors claim. Often the liable party or parties never intended to cause injury to your child. However, if they created a hazard or failed to remedy one or did anything that inflicted harm on your son or daughter, they can still be held financially responsible in civil court.
